Rossin brand was created in 1974 and are in great esteem among fans of fine Italian bikes ....
Mario Rossin worked for several years as a workshop supervisor and welding master in the welding department at Colnago's
The story started in 1973 when the amateur teams ICLAS and ITLA, owned by Vittorio GHEZZI, achieved promising results as amateurs; the riders of these teams used bicycles supplied by Colnago.
Ghezzi and the sporting director of the ITLA team, Domenico GARBELLI want to build a pro team around the promising rider Gibi Baronchelli.
The rupture is consumed with Colnago (then supplier of the pro SCIC team) who tries to debauch the young riders of ITLA ... the team ends the season on Bianchi .......
The idea of creating a range of high-end bikes was born in the minds of Ghezzi and Garbelli, able to compete with the Colnago. It is Mario ROSSIN, free from any commitment at this time, who is in charge of the frame production.
Rossin was also present for example as a professionnal team "Hitachi-Rossin" on the Tour de France 87.
Argentin, Miguel Indurain, Kuiper, Criquielion and others were rinding on Rossins.
In 1992 the brand was sold to a company called Finross (whose owners had founded Regina Cycles, Speed and Lema Sport) but that seems to have not worked out, the last real frame made by Rossin is the model Ghibli 1988...further model are made by this new company, without the high standards requierement under Marco Rossin quality built. I call those bikes, such as "dupont hand made" fake Rossins.Same thing happened with the great Brand Zeus and Orbéa, a story and two bikes will illustrate this marketing outrageous process soon. Stay Tuned
