Rossin, an Italian history...

Rossin brand was created in 1974 and are in great esteem among fans of fine Italian bikes ....

Mario Rossin worked for several years as a workshop supervisor  and welding master  in the welding department at Colnago's

The story started in 1973 when the amateur teams ICLAS and ITLA, owned by Vittorio GHEZZI, achieved promising results as amateurs; the riders of these teams used bicycles supplied by Colnago.

Ghezzi and the sporting director of the ITLA team, Domenico GARBELLI want to build a pro team around the promising rider Gibi Baronchelli.

The rupture is consumed with Colnago (then supplier of the pro SCIC team) who tries to debauch the young riders of ITLA ... the team ends the season on Bianchi .......

The idea of creating a range of high-end bikes was born in the minds of Ghezzi and Garbelli, able to compete with the Colnago. It is Mario ROSSIN, free from any commitment at this time, who is in charge of the frame production.
Rossin was also present for example as a professionnal team "Hitachi-Rossin" on the Tour de France 87.
Argentin, Miguel Indurain, Kuiper, Criquielion and others were rinding on Rossins.

In 1992 the brand was sold to a company called Finross (whose owners had founded Regina Cycles, Speed and Lema Sport) but that seems to have not worked out, the last real frame made by Rossin is the model Ghibli 1988...further model are made by this new company, without the high standards requierement under Marco Rossin quality built. I call those bikes, such as "dupont hand made" fake Rossins.Same thing happened with the great  Brand Zeus and Orbéa, a story and two bikes will illustrate this marketing outrageous  process soon. Stay Tuned

The bike presented here is a 1987 version, campagnolo Chorus,  for the most part
No handle bar tape, what color should suit her best...? Evil Red of course, this bike is a Red Devil.

Triumph Derailleur that many riders preffered over the "shimano like shape"  of the new Chorus et C-record model of the same year

Cinelli 1r stem and Campione del Mondo handle bar

Splendid Chorus calippers, the break shoes aren't original

No doute, this" R " means Rossin

 Classical  embossed"R"

 Typical Rossin protruding logo

This machine has not been refurbished, original paint , it's a colombus steel frame. Amazing condition, only  few scratches in the paint...

That's all for now  folks.

An amazing find...

What's this crap  for sale in the streets of Huy ? 😵

A very dirty and greasy 47 years old bike no one wanted ... I bought this really crapy awful bike... awful ? Really ? Look better...

The same bike after a shoot of Karcher... all the  parts even the tubular tires are original

Better look after conforming her to the classic standards of the era.

This bike is indeed a profesionnal 1973  Securitas, almost full Campagnolo Record 1973 ( the best groupset availlable at that time) built by the "Fontaine" company, a very important one in the southern part of Belgium, it was established in 1895, in Huy. A important brand team, the Securitas which won many professionnal and amateur races in France and Belgium for decades. This bike is the only remaining genuine and untouched bike alife. She is built uppon  a extremely rare Ishiwata 022 competition high quality frame. Only the breaks are Weinmann, but the pro version, named "Carerra"

Spendid color and the head plate has found his way back on the frame.

This bike belonged to a former racer, a charming hair dresser boy who  put only few miles on her, then stored it in his garage for 40 years, covered with a thick layer of grease which contributed to preserved all the components, as good as new. The bike here hasn't been cleaned thouroughly, only a rapid pass under Mr Karsher, all is in like new condition, even the wonderful paintjob.

Stella was also a Fontaine's Brand

Very powerful brakes, that whistles a lot 😁

12 times  Tour of Belgium winner written on the very ancient style sticker

BCM lugs, french, dated 1975 for this bike

Not even cleanse out crankset, sticky grease still on it, but, what's that "chinese" shite dust cover on a campi  crankset? Sugino ? You go to trash man.

I couldn't resist the temptation to ride this bike as it is, with 40 years old tires and with no revision whatsoever... but...its Campagnolo and as expected,
she rides like a charm and goes down hill suprisingly fast...yes I know, the tubular tires have no glue on anymore, dried out...but who cares the risk as long a we ride :) Rather to die on bike than in a bed 😜.

Credits should be given to Jean-Pierre Ropet, the amazing Belgian Bike historian and writer from whose I got those informations about this long gone Securitas Brand. A part of our Belgian and Nothern France History. Thank you Mr Ropet.
